Clean Up Salford Quays: A New Era for Community Action and Environmental Advocacy

Clean Up Salford Quays

For years, a passionate group of volunteers has tirelessly worked to clean up local waterways. Now, the campaign is expanding its reach beyond the water to tackle onshore pollution, green space preservation, and broader environmental issues affecting the community. This relaunch signifies a strengthened commitment to making Salford Quays a cleaner, greener, and more vibrant place for residents and visitors alike.

What’s New?

Clean Up Salford Quays will continue its mission of cleaning up the waterways while expanding its focus to:

  • Mobilising the Community – Advocating for more green spaces, park improvements, and environmental initiatives.
  • Providing a Platform for Change – Creating a space where residents can engage in discussions and actions on environmental issues.
  • Advocating for Sustainability – Lobbying for eco-friendly policies, improved waste management, and better local environmental practices.

Becoming an Official Group

With this new identity comes a stronger, more structured organization:

  • A New Leadership Team – Led by Cllr Helibron and dedicated environmental activists.
  • Official Recognition & Support – Now an insured group with backing from Keep Britain Tidy.
  • A Stronger Digital Presence – Active on Facebook, alongside a petition and website to drive engagement.
  • Enhanced Equipment & Resources – New lifejackets, waders, wellies, pickers, gloves, and other tools to make clean-ups more effective.
  • New Branding – Logos, banners, and T-shirts to strengthen community identity and visibility.
  • Regular Events & Initiatives – A six-month rolling schedule of clean-up events, with easy RSVP access.

“We are incredibly proud of the progress we’ve made, but we know there’s still so much more we can do. This relaunch gives us the structure, visibility, and resources needed to create lasting environmental change,” said Cllr Heilbron, Chair of Clean Up Salford Quays.

The group welcomes all members of the community to join their mission in preserving and enhancing local waterways, parks, and public spaces. Together, they aim to build a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable Salford Quays.
