Making Our Quays Walkways Shine: A Community Win
Salford is more than just a place on the map—it’s home. From the lively community to the stunning waterways that define our landscape, The Quays is a place of pride for all of us. That’s why I, as your local Liberal Democrat councillor, have made it my mission to ensure our public spaces are well-maintained, safe, and accessible for everyone.
Here at Salford Lib Dems, we’re making things happen. We have been campaigning tirelessly for real change. We’ve done it before—just look at the River Irwell Tow Path on Dock 5. After months of delays and neglect, it was us who finally got the walkway lights working again. We made the path usable, and we won’t stop there.
Our community deserves well-maintained, inviting spaces, and we’ve already made incredible improvements:
- Restored Mariners Canal from top to bottom, bringing new life to this beloved waterway.
- Transformed Clippers Quay horseshoe walkway, making it more enjoyable and accessible.
- Overhauled the walkway from the Imperial War Museum to Wharfside, enhancing art installations and improving aesthetics.
- Ongoing improvements to the towpath from Exchange Quay to the city centre, ensuring better connectivity and much more pleasurable walking experience.
These improvements don’t just happen—they’re the result of persistent effort, community support, and a belief that Salford deserves better. I’ll continue to fight to ensure our walkways remain a place of pride for all of us. If you have ideas on further improvements, please get in touch. Together, we can keep Salford shining.
